Restart saves the world and keeps the current runtime and settings. Players disconnect; saved drafts and updates are not applied.
tModLoader updates
Version information is loading.
Update workflow
- Check for updates: Looks for a newer release. No downloads, backup or restart.
- Restart game and apply updates: Clears any update hold, saves and stops the game, then runs the steps below. Players disconnect; the dashboard stays online. Saved settings drafts are not applied.
- Download: Fetch the selected tModLoader release.
- Create a recovery checkpoint: Copy worlds, mods, mod configs and saved settings before changing live data. Keep the previous runtime for recovery.
- Test: Download mod updates into a separate copy and check that enabled mods, dependencies and the copied world load successfully.
- Apply and verify: Switch only after the test passes, then start the real game and check its health.
If something fails: Download or compatibility failures keep the existing runtime and mods. If the updated game fails its startup health check, the previous runtime and checkpoint data are restored automatically and updates are paused. If recovery cannot start the game, the dashboard stays available for troubleshooting.
The checkpoint stays on the data volume; it is not an archive in the Backups list. Startup checks cannot guarantee every mod works throughout gameplay.
- Restore previous runtime and data: Queues recovery. Restart game and restore checkpoint performs it, reverting progress since that checkpoint. Current data is kept temporarily during recovery. After the restored game passes its health check, both recovery copies are deleted automatically. Your dashboard login is preserved.
- Delete recovery checkpoint: Permanently removes the current recovery copy and its logs to free space. Your running world, mods and cached runtimes remain. You cannot restore that checkpoint afterward.
- Cancel recovery: Cancels the queued restore. Any update hold stays in place. It does not restart the game.
- View diagnostics / Release notes: Opens recorded update logs or the upstream release details. Neither changes the server.

World management
Choose a saved world or create a new one. Switching saves and stops the game, then starts the chosen world. Connected players will disconnect.
Saved worlds
| World | Saved data | Last saved | Selection |
|---|
Select a world name to expand its saved details. Modded worlds use both .wld and .twld files. A missing .twld file may be expected for an unmodded world; this list does not verify world integrity or mod compatibility.
Saved draft
No saved changes.
Review includes all saved settings and mod changes. Canceling the confirmation keeps the draft for later; no restart happens until you confirm.

Connected players

Kick disconnects a player. Ban records their network address or Steam identifier and disconnects them. IP bans can affect other people on the same connection. Identical names cannot be safely targeted here.
Player history
Shows character names seen on this server and the loaded world, with their observed connection addresses. Names can be reused and IP addresses can be shared or change; these are not verified player identities.

Backups & recovery
Backup activity
Loading status…
A cold backup saves the world, disconnects players, and restarts the game after verification. The container stays running.
Archives
The list reads archive metadata, not a fresh integrity check. Verify checks the complete checksum and contents. Expand an archive and inspect it to see preparation or restore actions.
| Archive | Size | Integrity |
|---|
Restore a verified backup while keeping this dashboard available. Players disconnect while the game is saved, restored and restarted.
Recovery progress
No recovery operation recorded.
Use Restart now on Overview to retry an unhealthy game. Inspect console output first if startup failed.
Retained original data
Original directories are kept for manual rollback and are never removed by backup retention. They continue to use disk space.
Configuration
Save changes as a draft, then review and apply when ready to restart the game. Each field shows its currently running value for comparison.
Managed in Compose
Container ports and mounts and configuration mode are managed through Compose or environment variables. Edit those settings and recreate the container to apply changes.
Manage the Steam Web API key on the Workshop page and mod configuration files on the Mod configs page. The admin token is created during dashboard setup; resetting it requires access to the container.
Mod configuration files
Edit existing UTF-8 configuration files in tModLoader/ModConfigs. Files appear after mods generate their configuration. The editor supports files up to 4 MiB. Syntax highlighting is disabled above 262,144 characters (about 256 KiB for ASCII text); larger files remain editable, and Check syntax still works. Saving writes directly to disk, separately from the settings draft. Restart the server to ensure mods load the changes. Syntax checks follow the file extension: JSON, YAML, TOML, INI, or XML. Other extensions use text mode without format-specific validation. Each mod determines which values it supports.
Interactive console
Enter tModLoader server commands such as help, playing, save, or say Hello everyone. This is the game console, not a Linux shell. Commands act immediately, unlike staged settings.
Loading console…
Shows the last 200 lines, up to 64 KiB, refreshed every two seconds while this tab is open.
Use ↑ and ↓ for this tab’s command history. Stop commands can disconnect the dashboard; restart the container from Docker if needed. Commands and output can contain private server information.
Playthroughs
Pair a saved world with its mods, world settings and Journey permissions. Create worlds on the Worlds page first. World size, difficulty, seed and evil do not change an existing world; Journey permissions apply to Journey worlds. Keep a backup before changing a world’s mods.

Mod profiles
Save named Workshop selections for different playthroughs. Profiles contain mod and collection IDs; they do not pin versions or include world files. Collections can change on Steam.
